Mumbai based Abidali Dossa with his three-year-old startup, Transformance Forums, is on a mission to skill India for the future. He and his team played a major role in empowering professionals from diversified job functionalities and Industries to upgrade their skills. In an exclusive interaction with Machine Maker, on the eve of their “Future of Procurement Seminar”, Abidali Dossa, the founder of Transformance Forums talks about the need of the hour, which is up-skilling and why he joined the entrepreneurship bandwagon.
For more than 18 years Mr. Dossa was working with different companies, organizing fairs and seminars which was usually the way of conducting business. In this vast experience Mr. Dossa understood the vacuum of conducting programs which can add value to people around, and with that in mind, during 2015 he ventured into his entrepreneurship journey with Transformance Media Group.
Transformance Media started conducting one fair and one seminar during the initial year in 2015 and with the passage of time when the organization was moving forward with the acceptance and increasing demand has now resulted into the conferences increasing to a number of 10 in a month on various diversifying subjects, primarily in upskilling professionals in different streams. Transformance, through various conferences, has provided a platform to both, the public and private sector official to air their experiences and also pure sharing of information.
Today, many departments like Finance, IT transformed into Business Partnership rather than being just employment. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT are the buzz words today, but in a fast pace we are able to witness the changes in job profiles, and in some cases, the job profile itself get ceased. “As a working professional, we understand the need of getting upskilled, but often get lost in time, and on the crucial moment, we get outplaced. This is where Transformance is playing a critical role by identifying the subject, people and bring all stakeholders in a single platform for getting them ready for the future”, says Abidali Dossa.
Why the Future of Procurement?
Transformance has been set up with one aim which is to aid and assist the larger socio-economic transformation encompassing job functionalities and industries and taking heed to the Procurement, Transformance is conducting a one day seminar on Future of Procurement, the event which would be held on 20th of February’ 2019 in St. Regis, Mumbai. “The procurement function is undergoing a change and adapting the change with the correct measurement requires acquiring certain skill and knowledge. It is becoming more strategic, more collaborative, and more technology-driven than ever before. There is a strong realization that procurement is no longer a cost-cutting function but a profit division factor. It can deliver real value to the organizations, with the right approach, technology investment and the backing from wider stakeholders”, adds Mr. Dossa.
Over the last few decades, the role of procurement in an organization evolved just from dealing with quotations and negotiations. But with the changing times, there has to be an initiation to transform the mindset of the people. Transformance Forums identified the need to upgrade this knowledge among the senior professionals in the procurement, and with this seminar aims at developing and changing the outlook of the people. People need a sense of realization to know the skills required to become stable and employable.
We are living in the era of digitization and constant innovation where there are a few elements affecting each and every industry, job functions and how the job functions get ready for the future. The procurements align to what are the changes coming around, why are the changes and also updating the skill set and the technology to use. Procurement is on the upswing itself.
