Incredible stories of Indian Manufacturing

IMTOS 2019 to impetus manufacturing growth in India

Kamlesh Gohil

Prior to shifting to their own fairground at Bengaluru by 2007, Pragati Maidan at Delhi was one of the venue IMTMA choose for its flagship event IMTEX exhibition. Delhi just not representing industrially the state of Delhi, but the National Capital Region (NCR), where some of the oldest and developing industrial hubs in the country like Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, etc. are based. There was a huge vacuum Delhi and NCR missed from IMTEX, and that gap was bridged by Ahmedabad based K and D Communications in 2007 itself with IMTOS. Excerpts from the discussion with Mr. Kamlesh Gohil, Chairman and Managing Director, K and D Communication Limited, about their preparation for the 7th edition of IMTOS scheduled from 14th of June 2019, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

India is an attractive hub for foreign investments in the manufacturing sector. With impetus on developing industrial corridors and smart cities, the government aims to ensure assist in integrating, monitoring and developing a conducive environment for the industrial development and promoting advance practices in manufacturing. According to a recent forecast by Technavio, the production of machine tools in India will grow at a CAGR of 12.6% approximately during the forecast period. The machine tool industry is key to the government’s flagship ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ initiatives, given that it makes the machines required for the manufacturing sector.

Machine tools are used extensively by companies across several applications such as die molding, part manufacturing, aerospace, shipbuilding, electrical and electronics, defense, railways, healthcare, and consumer durables of which the automotive industry is the largest consumer.

“The growth of the automotive industry in India is the primary growth driver for this market. The automotive and auto components industry has accounted for about 40% of machine tools consumption in India. India is the automotive export hub in the South Asian market for some of the major auto OEMs like Ford, Isuzu, Suzuki, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Fiat. This growth in the overall consumption is attributed to the increasing import of advanced production lines from countries like Japan, Germany, and Italy”, shares Mr. Gohil.

In April-March 2017 exports of PV and Commercial Vehicles (CV) registered a growth of 16.20 % and 4.99% respectively, over April-March 2016. The sales of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers grew by 9.23%, 4.16% and 6.89% respectively, during the period April-March 2017. India's electric vehicle (EV) sales are poised to rise further on the back of cheaper energy storage costs and the Government of India’s vision to see six million electric and hybrid vehicles in India by 2020.

Mr. Gohil adds, “From emerging market sellers/ buyers to expert industry professionals, IMTOS offers to appeal and efficiently cater to differing strata. A prestigious name for global machine tool trading and sourcing, the eighth edition of IMTOS 2019 shall showcase the industry's giants and international pavilions from key countries and makers. With a high focus on providing real value business opportunities to exhibitors, IMTOS steadily shows strong efforts in increasing its exhibitors' rate of return. By providing profitable trade opportunities, IMTOS 2019 promises solid and strong growth”.

With an exhaustive range of overseas participation, worthy and nationally acclaimed enhanced technologies and business tactics, IMTOS 2019 is the appropriate portal to explore the market trends and watch out for competition. IMTOS is built on immaculate responses and participation from various domestic and international stalwarts. Keen interest from renowned industry and global change makers has set newer and higher standards in terms of footfalls, serious business inquiries and business generation.

With every successful edition, IMTOS follows through with an even more promising one. With its launch in 2007 the exhibition that was spread over 12000 Sq Mtr of exhibition space and generated around $120 million worth of business turnover, IMTOS has grown leaps and bounds over the years.

The 6th edition of IMTOS held from July 28th to 31st 2017 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi was the most comprehensive and protracted events on technology, engineering, emerging technological practices and latest innovative developments in the engineering, machine tools, material handling & automation industry. This exhibition showcased top-notch facilities for exhibit display, corporate communications, promotions and publicity and liaison with bureaucrats. It saw international participation from 8 countries including USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Turkey and 276 regions of India and was attended by a mammoth 32576 visitors.

Taking this legacy forward, IMTOS 2019 shall indeed provide the most suitable platform for manufacturers and dealers of machine tools to interact, explore and strike business deals for advancing the machine tool sector in the country.
