Most of the times, we manufacturing industry people, have the habit of dwelling and deep-diving into the failures (customer complaints) to do a root-cause analysis. This is with an objective of fault-finding and ensuring that we do not repeat the same. Customer satisfaction is the key. Majority of times, we spend a considerable amount of time on this activity involving all relevant people/ departments within an organization, so as to enable everyone realise the significance and quantify the damage caused. This goes a long way to sensitize the team involved eventually eliminating the cause / noise in the process, thereby rectifying it. Ofcourse, sustenance is the key.

Very seldom, do we reflect onto our success, in a similar way. It is said, that something which gets reviewed or focused, helps attention and hence, perfection. As a practice, success has a short celebration and is then forgotten quickly. In some cases, it is not even sufficiently relished. Where then, will be a structured formula to repeat it !

It is very important that each one of us reflect onto our success, and draw some conclusions and references from it, that define the foundation and process of this success. If we are able to draw out a cause-effect relationship for majority of our successes, it would help us identify the strong points and reasons that led to its evolution. This will in turn, make a roadmap for its repetition in future, in various forms at various milestones. There are horizontal deployment case examples in an organization where the learnings from one success could be deployed elsewhere.   There are people and processes that are the principal reasons of success – hence, knowing them is vital. Effectivity is another paradigm that would have enabled a success story – hence, it needs deeper understanding and attention. It is important that success inspires the people in the organization, and is treated as its own benchmark, thereby creating an environment of triumph. More important is also to recognize and felicitate the successful people, and transform them into leaders. Generation of leaders is a continual activity, and potential candidates needs to be nourished after being identified and groomed. Any organization can only be built, once you have dynamic, dedicated and effective people. The famous proverb : S_CCESS cannot be spelled without ‘U’, is very relevant in this context. The self-confidence that gets reposed into individuals owing to the accomplishment of success is beyond compare. It leads to conviction and then enables engagement across the organization, to let teams get formed and aligned to cherish a common dream and vision. Driving the team becomes easier, then, and the shared goal leads to the pre-determined destination.

Learning from failures, and ensuring that they do not bring setback, is an equally important element in this journey. It is obvious that the failure on the way, could jeopardize the entire system. However, careful intervention of leaders in guiding the team& channelizing their thoughts, thereby giving them the courage to tread carefully, makes the difference. Rising after falling down, should be the buzzword.
