WRI workshop to explore “Electrification of Public Transport”

WRI India in collaboration with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, CEPT University is organising a two-day workshop on “Electrification of Public Transport” on 23-24th September 2019, Hotel Fortune Landmark, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The workshop is supported by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, New Delhi under the ‘Electric Mobility Forum’ initiative.

The workshop is a pre-event in preparation for the 12th Regional EST Forum in Asia, 28-31 October 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam and is also supported by United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD).

 “Many cities in India are looking to deploy electric buses but have virtually no capacity because of electric buses is not the same bus with different technology. It’s a different product altogether. The workshop will bring multiple cities and experts to facilitate a peer to peer learning for effective deployment.”

The workshop will start with discussing incentivising electric bus opportunity through FAME2, followed with how state governments can prepare their EV Policy Framework and EV Road Map. In the second session, the workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities of implementation of Ebuses across the country. The first day will end with the highlight of the day, a site visit to the eBus operations in Ahmedabad.

During the second day discussion on OEM Perspectives on E-Mobility will be put forth along with issues and challenges in Micro-Mobility option, business model and financing E-Mobility will be discussed, and the subject of the last session is future of E-Mobility in India.
