When it comes to Electric Vehicles, North East is gaining popularity as an active participant and major contributor to the e-mobility sector. The region is a major market for e-rickshaws with sales of thousands of units every month. Assam already has pilot projects running on electric busses for public transportation and a fleet of electric busses to connect north east cities will be on roads soon.

In order to boost this movement Electric Mobility Forum by WRI India in collaboration with Assam State Transport Corporation is organizing a one day regional workshop – Northeast Electric Mobility Conclave on the 30th of October 2019, in Guwahati, Assam.

This workshop is a great opportunity to Guwahati EV enthusiasts to clearly understand the pathway the Government is planning to implement electric mobility in the State. Research scholars and EV Startups can make most out of the exposure gained at the event for developing high quality products in-compliance with regulations and policies whether it is electric vehicles or charging infrastructure.

With this workshop WRI India is not only aiming to promote electric mobility in Assam but entire North-east will be benefitting from this mobility conclave. Hence EV enthusiasts from other north-eastern states can also attend the workshop to understand how WRI is planning to implement electric mobility in other regions.

Assam being one of the early EV adaptors has some distinctive advantage as it a emerging hub in e-mobility for serious developmental activities related to electric mobility. IIT Guwahati being a major hub for research activities pertaining to electric mobility and charging infrastructure, the workshop can bring a lot of value to young scientists working in e-mobility. With such positive aura about electric vehicles in the state, we can expect active involvement of participants during the workshop.

The event agenda can be viewed here. To register for the workshop, please write to Shravani Sharma at shravani.sharma@wri.org
