On World Environment Day 2021, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is planning a virtual interactive session with the theme 'Ecosystem Restoration: Initiatives by Indian Auto Industry' on June 5th, 10:30 a.m. – 13:30 a.m. This 14th episode marks the end of the effort with a collaborative observation of World Environment Day by the Indian automotive sector, celebrating the success of the SIAM 2020 Lecture Series, which began last year on the same day.
The virtual conclave, divided into two sessions, will feature informative conversations by industry and topic experts on sustainability trends in the automobile sector and how the sector is transitioning to become more sustainable. World Environment Day will begin with a welcome note by Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM, followed by the Chairman SIAM Sustainable Mobility Group, Ashwath Ram, Managing Director, TATA Cummins & Cummins India, providing industry insights on sustainability. Past President SIAM, Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, will deliver the special speech.
Suresh Prabhu, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and India's Sherpa to the G20 and G7 will deliver the keynote talk during the opening session of World Environment Day. He is a former Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, as well as a thought leader. He is extremely concerned about the environment, and he led multiple international discussions with remarkable results.
SIAM Members' enormous contribution to environmental restoration has been collated in a comprehensive study titled ‘Sustainability Report of Indian Automobile Sector 2020,' which will be revealed in the gracious presence of Mr Suresh Prabhu during the opening session of World Environment Day. Rajendra Petkar, President & CTO, TATA Motors, will serve as Co-Chairman of the Sustainable Mobility Group and moderate the Eco-sustainability session.
Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM, will outline SIAM's commitment to Sustainable Mobility and, in particular, World Environment Day events toward the conclusion, and highlighting forthcoming significant initiatives in 2021 In addition, the conference will see the debut of live chat show episodes titled ‘Green Tea with SIAM,' which will feature meetings with automotive industry executives and think tanks.
