  • Sunfox Technologies has developed ECG Monitor “SPANDAN”, a smart AI-based cardiac care solution.
  • “SPANDAN” is unique in its matchbox-sized appearance weighing just 12gms.
  • Highly portable for its size SPANDAN ECG Monitor is easy to use by both healthcare staff as well as patients themselves.

Timely detection of cardiac abnormalities can prevent several untimely deaths such as the 21-year-old friend of Rajat Jain. The sense of this unacceptable loss, made more regretful due to helplessness, propelled Rajat to do something for the cause so that no other faceless friend in the nameless corners of the country lose another. Rajat along with his brother and a few other friends established Sunfox Technologies, a Dehradun based startup in 2017.

His grit and determination have resulted in success as Sunfox have developed a compact ECG monitor, “SPANDAN” – a word denoting pulsation of the heart. Rightly so, as the ECG monitor has so far gone on to screen over 10000+ people and saved 140+ lives due to early detection by it. What more, this hi-tech ECG monitor comes unique in its strikingly small avatar, the size of a matchbox, making it the lightest and highly portable item in its category so far.  In an interview with Machine Maker Rajat Jain, the founder of Sunfox throws light on this innovative healthcare solution and his plans ahead.

Sunfox has been bestowed with encouragements and praise in equal measure by the Prime Minister of India himself twice on live television for their great innovation. The startup has also represented India in the World Economic Forum and won several international awards

Story behind SPANDAN

I lost one of my friends at the age of 21 due to cardiac arrest. I was completely helpless and later I found that even preliminary cardiac monitoring is not available at the primary healthcare facilities in most parts of India which led to this innovation”, Rajat said.

According to the World Health Organisation, 17.9 million people die each year from CVDs (Cardio Vascular Diseases), an estimated 31% of all deaths worldwide. It happens because of the non-availability of monitoring equipment, no routine monitoring, lack of routine heart checks, no early monitoring, or diagnosis. 70% of the people in India alone do not have access to basic cardiac monitoring facilities, cardiac experts, at the hour of need.

SPANDAN ECG Monitor has undergone various clinical trials with the help of leading doctors and hospitals and has been successful. SPANDAN helps users to identify heart abnormalities in the early stage.

Uniqueness of SPANDAN

SPANDAN ECG is a matchbox-sized medical-grade ECG machine that weighs only 12 grams. It is the smallest, smartest and the lightest heart monitoring machine that not only detects heart abnormalities with its cutting edge Artificial Intelligence but also classifies 21 different kinds of heart abnormalities with the accuracy of 99.7% in comparison to clinical diagnosis.

SPANDAN ECG is also equipped with smart algorithms to interpret abnormalities and deliver the results in easy and understandable language for the users.

Till now 10000+ patients are screened and 138+ lives saved by early detection, this also includes Jain’s father. “I am fortunate that SPANDAN has also helped my father in a cardiac abnormality event at midnight in my native place during this lockdown period,” said Jain.

Steps for COVID-19
