OMRON Asia Pacific, the global leader in industrial automation solutions across the Asia Pacific, ventured into UVC disinfection with the launch of its robot – LD UVC. The robot is co-creation with TechmeticsRobotics, the forerunners in autonomous robots service agency, to equip organizations to fight the spread of infectious diseases more effectively and at ease.

Several tests have proved the fact that UVC lights are effective in breaking down the pathogens’ DNA and RNA beyond their capacity to recover, thereby preventing them from replicating further. OMRON’s LD-UVC has been programmed to navigate surfaces autonomously and disinfects the premises including the high-touch areas by eliminating 99.90% of bacteria and viruses which might spread through droplets or might be airborne in nature, by delivering the accurate dosage of the UVC energy.

Equipped with lasers and Passive Infrared (PIR) Motion Sensors, for the detection of obstacles and avoidance, the LD UVC robot maneuvers through narrow corridors, elevators, and even automatic doors seamlessly. Furthermore, it shuts off its UVC light upon human detection which ensures the impeccable safety of human beings. Primarily suited for indoor spaces, the robot follows a mapped route, which limits the required manpower resources dedicated to the manual sanitizing process. Several features like a bumper, sonar, and emergency stop provide additional safety. The machine has an automatic charging facility and a smooth touch interface for better control. All these characteristics makes it the most appropriate gadget for facility management across hospitals, hotels, malls, event venues, airports, corporate office, and the likes. With a very simple integration of software, the robot gets up and running in minimal installation time and does not require any modifications or construction of the premises.

The Key features of LD-UVC include 8 UVC lamps placed in a circle provide full 360° coverage to eliminate 99.90% of bacteria and viruses. It has PIR Motion Sensors on all four sides – Lidar Sensors for toe, high level, and overhanging obstacles detection to avoid collisions – to detect human presence and trigger UVC light to turn off immediately. Its stainless steel Lamp Guard is designed to safeguard the lamp from collision against protruding objects. Besides, it has Built-In Audio & Visual Buzzer, speech and display to provide warning alert before turning on UVC light. The robot has 13 hours battery life for movement and 3.5 hours for UV operation.
